Preparing for court
This section covers the most common questions about the practical side of being a juror so that you feel prepared for when your jury service starts - like how long you will have to serve; where to go; usual court times and what to wear. Remember that the jury manager and court officials know that jury service can seem daunting and will take good care of you when you arrive at court.
When planning what to take, please be aware that you are likely to spend time waiting around during your jury service. The length of court cases can vary a great deal and there are a number of factors that can delay them. There may be legal arguments that have to be heard in the absence of the jury, or the defendant may change his or her plea to guilty - that means the trial doesn't go ahead at all.
Every effort is made by court staff to see that you aren't kept waiting and to release you as early as possible if you aren't likely to be needed on a particular day.
